So Many Republican Hypocrites, So Little Time

October 3, 2008 | SEND TO A FRIEND | GET EARLY NOTICE OF THE HOTW

John McCain

Welcome back to the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week.

In a few short weeks, McCain has managed to turn his "maverick" brand into dishonorable hypocrisy with all the recklessness of a speeding car in a sleet storm hitting a patch of ice and crashing into a guardrail before toppling over the side of a cliff.

We could catalogue the disastrous unfolding of a man who wanted to win the presidency so much that he sold his soul to the devil, but the details are far too voluminous for this short dishonor roll.

Suffice it to say, if McCain had to list his top personal priorities at this moment, they would be: McCain, Lying, Lobbyists, Gambling, Lying, Greed, Lying, Screwing Around, Making the Wealthy Wealthier, War, Country, and Keeping His Wealthy Wife While Pretty Much Ignoring Her.

If Bush is a simpleton, McCain is a bitter person who feels entitled to the presidency because of his military genealogy -- and those years in a Hanoi prison he told us that he was too humble to mention but can't stop talking about.

Here is a guy who picked an airhead for a vice presidential class who couldn't pass a third grade civics test, and he claims that the only people who don't admire her leadership skills are conservatives who frequent Georgetown cocktail parties.

Forget that we didn't know that right wingers such as George Will, Kathleen Parker, and David Brooks -- among others -- hung out in the liberal lair where JFK lived when he was a senator, but it's not only the conservative pundits who have come to realize that McCain selfishly chose Palin at the risk of the nation's future, but also it's now the majority of Americans.

McCain, a craps shooter, often takes short gambling junkets to roll the dice by playing his beloved game of risk, craps. But rolling the dice with America's future while standing in front of "Country First" campaign signs is not only hypocrisy, but also it's betrayal of the basest sort.

And now the "Straight Talk Express" has transformed itself into the "B.S. Shuttle." How quickly McCain has turned from the media darling into the scold of alleged "gotcha" journalism because he believes that the role of the press is not to ask questions about public policy.

McCain is now so upset that the American public is not handing him the presidency on a platter that he's turning into a petulant, irritable, prickly hypocrite of epic proportions.

After more than 8 ½ years of covering Republican hypocrisy, we can assure you that McCain meets and exceeds the low standards set by those who preceded him. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still John McCain.

Remember our motto: So many Republican hypocrites, so little time.

Catch up with you soon.
