So Many Republican Hypocrites, So Little Time

National Republican Congressional Committee

Welcome back to the Buzzflash GOP Hypocrite of the Week.

We've been bamboozled for years. Lock, stock and barrel, we've been sold the myth that Republicans are responsible fiscal stewards.

The reality is that we have a record national debt under an MBA president, in large part due to a corporate ethic whose basic modus operandi is "where's mine?" Businesses give to the Republican Party and then get no bid, no responsibility contracts. Wall Street firms are bailed out with our taxpayer money, while the Republicans tell the average person in financial difficulties to fend for themselves.

So it's only appropriate that the treasurer for the National Republican Congressional Committee was recently accused of having "diverted as much as one million dollars to defunct campaign accounts or his own private bank account(s), through the use of wire transfers." A March 17 article noted that the treasurer, Christopher J. Ward "had been on the job [with] the National Republican Congressional Committee as audit committee chairman for at least five years, which now seems a bit akin to having a fox in the hen-house."

As is the reality for Republicans -- not their myth of fiscal responsibility -- "For five years, Ward forged audits. Not a single member of Congress, nor a single NRCC staffer ever actually met with or talked to any of the outside firms' accountants that were supposedly conducting these 'audits.'"

When John McCain fessed up in a GOP debate that he's not a guy who knows a lot about the economy, you can believe it.

The real Republican economic plan is a simple one: "How much can I get out of this deal?"

Just look at the National Republican Congressional Committee where the treasurer was stuffing his pockets with money that was supposed to go to Republican campaigns. Maybe the guy wasn't being a hypocrite at all. Maybe he was just being a Republican.

Remember our motto: So many Republican hypocrites, so little time.

Catch up with you soon.
