So Many Republican Hypocrites, So Little Time

Richard Curtis

Welcome back to the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week.

We have some advice for the macho-posturing Republican males. If you don't want people to think you are gay, a cross-dresser, adulterer, transsexual, or a child molester, you better become a Democrat or Independent.

Because at the fast pace of sexual perversity being exposed among elected Republican officials -- almost all of whom are invariably publicly and sanctimoniously opposed to gays and adultery -- it's kind of de facto questionable whether any white GOP male who claims to be for "family values" is not a "pervert."

By now, you've probably read about the latest unfolding farcical chapter in the ongoing epidemic of GOP sexual perversity.

Yes, a now resigned state representative from Washington State got himself in a cross-dressing, fellatio, male sex for hire "tight spot" the other day in Spokane, where not too long ago the Republican mayor was uncovered as a sexual harasser of his male employees.

Our mind is dizzy with recent tales of right-wing debauchery. While Curtis has indeed taken it to a new level of tabloid sensation, the pattern is the same: repression and hypocrisy.

As an article in the Oregonian noted:

"However, the one bit of importance to this story has almost been lost in all of the sex talk. Like in so many of these other cases, Curtis has an anti-gay rights voting record. He voted against domestic partnerships for gays and opposed a bill prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation.

"So he may not have a powerful office as has Larry Craig. He wasn't a prominent church leader and he sure as heck didn't help bring down the Republican leadership in Congress as did (Mark) Foley. But in the public mind, Curtis further tarnishes the case that conservatives make against legislation promoting equality for gays."
Curtis's case is so lurid and detailed in its tawdriness that it both titillates and repels (after receiving oral sex in a porn shop, while dressed as a woman, Curtis woke up in a swanky Spokane hotel after a night doing the nasty with a young man nicknamed "Stallion.")

But the key feature of it -- as it has been for the endless succession of repressed sexual white males who lead the GOP -- is his gross hypocrisy.

These people are deeply troubled and in need of serious psychiatric intervention. In the meantime, they continue to defraud America with their advocacy of discriminatory laws and attitudes that are aimed right at themselves.

Until next week, remember our motto: So many Republican hypocrites, so little time.

Catch up with you soon.
